How to find cDNA for interested gene LocusID The "entrez_gene ID" can be found from the NCBI entrez gene home page by putting your target sequence's accession, gi number, symbol, or description in the search box and click the "go" button. Another way to get the LocusID is BLAST your target sequence using NCBI BLAST. Select the link called "Nucleotide-nucleotide BLAST (blastn)". In the next page, paste your target sequence into "Search" area, select nr from "Choose database" and click "BLAST!" button in the bottom. UniGene Cluster The "UniGene Cluster" can be found from the NCBI UniGene home page by putting your target sequence's accession, gi number, symbol or description in the box next to "for", and click the "go" button. Similarly, UniGene Cluster can be obtained by BLASTing your target sequence. Select "Nucleotide-nucleotide BLAST (blastn)" link on the NCBI BLAST. In the next page, paste your target sequence in the area next to "Search", replace "All organisms" with the species of your choice in the box next to "select from". In the result page, click on light blue "U" buttons. Ensembl Gene ID Open Ensembl home and select the species. In the next page, choose "Gene" in the box next to "Search e!", fill in the box with your target sequence's symbol, description or accession ID, and click the "Go" button. You can also get the Ensembl Gene by BLASTing your target sequence. On the Ensembl BLAST page, paste your target sequence, select species in the box next to "Select species", select "Ensembl cDNAs" in the line beginning with "dna database", and click on "RUN" button. |
